SolariX XR FT-ICR MS instrument (Bruker Daltonik GmbH, Bremen, Germany) equipped with a refrigerated, 9.4 T actively shielded superconducting magnet (Bruker Biospin, Wissembourg, France) and a Paracell analyzer cell. The ionization of the samples is performed an ESI ion source (Bruker Daltonik GmbH, Bremen, Germany). FT-ICR MS provides a confident assignment of the unique elemental composition for each mass-spectrum peak. FT-ICR MS is one of the most powerful tools that can be used for the characterization of complex organic compounds in atmospheric aerosols at the molecular level.

Membrane inlet single photon ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MI-SPI-TOFMS) (SPI-MS 3000 Hexin Analytical Instrument Co., Ltd. China). This instrument integrates membrane enrichment, vacuum ultraviolet (UV) single photon ionization, time-of-flight mass spectrometry, high-speed data acquisition system, and high frequency high voltage power supply, possessing the characteristics of real-time, rapid and online analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Thermo Scientific Q Exactive mass spectrometer desktop LC-MS/MS combines the parent ion selectivity of high performance quadrupole bar with high resolution accurate mass number (HR/AM) Orbitrap detection technology to provide excellent performance and excellent versatility.

  • The resolution is up to 140,000
  • The maximum scanning rate is 12Hz
  • Dynamic range between scans > 5000:1
  • Quadrupole mass number filter
  • Multiple detection capability improves the analysis efficiency of a single cycle
  • S-lens ion source for better sensitivity

Q Exactive mass spectrometer is an excellent detector that can provide rapid chromatographic separation technology with the ability of rapid scanning and multiple detection. The superior quality of its MS/MS data provides more reliable qualitative and quantitative detection of compounds. The fast alternating positive and negative scanning mode supports the most complex analytical methods and saves time in screening experiments. This instrument is available in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Li Xue from Jinan University

NOx, NO2 and NO concentrations are simultaneously measured by a chemiluminescence instrument (Eco Physics, model CLD88p, Switzerland) hyphenated to a photolytic (metal halide lamp) converter (EcoPhysics, model PLC 860, Switzerland)

Ozone analyzer (Thermo Scientific Model 49i, USA)

Long path absorption photometer (LOPAP) (QUMA Elektronik & Analytik, Wuppertal, Germany) with detection limit of few ppt is aimed for real-time measurements of nitrous acid (HONO) in the troposphere, and in the indoor air.
