On December 5th, Guangzhou Education Base held the 2021 Autumn English Speech Contest for Graduate students.  Seven judges including Prof. Ren Yuezhong from GUANGDONG University of Foreign Studies served as judges, Ms. Chen Dongmei and Foreign teacher Sherman Chui served as judges and questioners respectively. More than 100 students from the Fall 2021 English class attended.  

During the competition, 15 doctoral students recommended by each class gave oral presentations in three parts: prepared speech, impromptu speech and question and answer.  The topic of the prepared speech is Cooperation and Competition.  In the impromptu speech, contestants choose one of 20 hot topics and express their opinions impromptu.  

After the game, Chen Dongmei commented on the performance of each player.  She made specific comments on pronunciation and intonation, speech performance, vocabulary and other aspects, encouraging students to spare more time to practice English in daily life, laying a solid foundation for future research work and external learning and communication.  

After the wonderful competition, Wang Yiqun won the first prize, Chen Lanxiadi, Chen Guangshi won the second prize, Qiu Zhuoya and other 12 students won the third prize and excellence award.  In this competition, there were three separate awards: the best impromptu speech award, the best Pronunciation and Intonation Award and the best Team Award, which were won by Wang Yiqun, Chen Lanxidi and English Class 3 respectively.  Mr. Ren Yue-zhong and the judges present the certificates and souvenirs to the students.
